Leanne Kiely is a UX/UI designer based in Vancouver, BC.
I am a UX designer and researcher with a deep interest in making the technology experience seamless through designs that put the user’s needs first.
I moved to Vancouver 3 years ago from Ireland after completing my Bachelors of Design with a focus on Ceramic Design. Since moving to Vancouver I have used my position as a retail manager to not only develop my customer interaction skills, product placement & life cycles and branding techniques but I have also immersed myself in the creative community here in Vancouver allowing me to remain in an innovative headspace.
My decision to make a career change came when I was granted permanent residency to Canada. I felt like doors had been opened to me.
I looked at the skills I had and was working on (from my nearly 10 years of customer experience and people management) and the direction I wanted to take my career, into technology and design.
I found UX/UI and thought that it was the perfect blend of two of my passions; People & Design.
The decision to enroll in a 9 month intensive bootcamp while working full time was well worth the hard work and dedication as I now feel ready and equipped to break into the UX/UI design field.
When I’m not working or studying, I can be found on the water rowing as part of the Vancouver Rowing Club or enjoying the great outdoors that beautiful BC has to offer.
